Our investment approach
At Fidelity, we’ve always been committed to carrying out fundamental in-depth research on the companies we invest in and we do this not only for equities but for fixed income and cash as well. Our reputation and presence in the marketplace give us excellent access to the senior management of companies we invest in, so Fidelity’s portfolio managers can rely on our own independent analysis when building their funds.
Fidelity’s investment philosophy at a glance
- Commitment to fundamental in-depth research
- Global communications network of more than 600 investment professionals worldwide
- Good reputation and strong presence in the marketplace
- Access to one of the largest in-house research networks in the industry
We’re able to draw on the research and analysis generated by one of the largest in-house research networks in the industry, with access to more than 600 investment professionals from all over the world. We have recently expanded this network with a Global Sector Team which is looking at how increasing globalisation affects the companies and markets we invest in.
We maintain close links with Fidelity Management and Research (FMR), our US affiliate, which was founded in Boston in 1946 and is one of the largest mutual fund companies in America. Fidelity and FMR share a global communications network, enabling all investment professionals to distribute research findings to each other immediately.
While our investment professionals work as a team, it is portfolio managers who are ultimately responsible for picking stocks. Fidelity has always maintained that portfolios are managed much more successfully when investment decisions are based on individual responsibility and accountability rather than being made by a committee.
